Prehospital textbooks are aimed at a different setting from hospital emergency medicine references. Start with the text specified by your EMS or paramedic program, then consider a focused reference for an area such as rhythm interpretation. A large emergency medicine text may be appropriate for medical training but unnecessarily broad for an introductory module.
Critical care and toxicology references address more specialized learning. If your course is focused on intensive care, compare an ICU reference with any required nursing material. Do not assume that a PDF includes a publisher platform or online training package mentioned in the original book title.
